Esophageal Ulcers – Herpes:
Causes :
  • peptic-reflux, barret, crohn, dermatologic [BMMP, EB, Behcet’s].
  • infectious – HSV, CMV, HIV
  • injury – corrosives, etoh, drugs, xrt, NG
  • cancer
Size small :
  • HSV, reflux, Behcet, BMMP, XRT
  • large – CMV, HIV, cancer

Workup/TX :
  • suspicious for malignancy – referred for endoscopic evaluation
  • HIV – determine etiology and treat with antivirals as indicated
  • peptic – supress acid secretion
