Causes :
- peptic-reflux, barret, crohn, dermatologic [BMMP, EB, Behcet’s].
- infectious – HSV, CMV, HIV
- injury – corrosives, etoh, drugs, xrt, NG
- cancer
Size small :
- HSV, reflux, Behcet, BMMP, XRT
- large – CMV, HIV, cancer
Workup/TX :
- suspicious for malignancy – referred for endoscopic evaluation
- HIV – determine etiology and treat with antivirals as indicated
- peptic – supress acid secretion
