Plasma levels of Iodinated agents depend on:

  1. Rate of administration (IV bolus, IV drip)
  2. Blood half life
  3. Distribution:
    1. Rapid exchange between plasma and ECF
    2. Exclusion form intracellular space
    3. Do not cross the BBB intact
  4. Excretion 
    1. Glomerular filtration with no resorption in the tubules. 
    2. Hepatic excretion (vicarious) increases in renal failure
